Senior Players > Social Competition
Social Competitions are for senior players who wish to play and/or practice competition in a less competitive environment and to make some new tennis friends.These competitions will only be running during the University Semester Dates.
Grades of Competition:
Men's A & Ladies' A - For those players who are ready to play against the BEST!. Please note that you will be put into "B" if we feel you are not up to the "A" Standard.
Men's B & Ladies' B - For those players who are ready/want to play some social competition but are not ready to play the "A"s.
Time: Thursdays 7pm to 9pm. Players must be ready to commence their matches at 7pm.
Period of Competition: 10 weeks, commencing 29th July 2010 (If there are washouts, addtional weeks will be added on, No Play on 30th Sept 2010)
Cost: $120 per season of 10 weeks (*No Refunds/Credits are given for missed weeks. Substitutions are allowed)
Trophies: Trophies will be given to the Winner & Runner Up of each section.
Format: 1 Singles & 1 Doubles/ American Doubles
Men's A & Ladies' A Matches - 1 set of 6 games, normal Deuce play, normal tie-break at games 6-6
Men's B & Ladies' B Matches - 1 set of 6 games, Sudden Death (No-Ad Scoring), tie-break at games 6-6, last point at
tie-break points 6-6
Singles - Singles Matches will be played within the section
Doubles - Doubles Matches will be played within the section. Mixed Doubles will be played every alternate week.
American Doubles - American Doubles Matches will be played within the section. Mixed American Doubles may be played every alternate week.
Partners & Opponents:
Opponents will be on a round robin basis.
Doubles Partners will be on a random basis for the first week. Thereafter it will be based on the rankings on the ladder, e.g. 1st place/Bottom Placed vs 2nd Placed/ 2nd from bottom Placed. You may be playing with the same partners and same opponents more than once, depending on the player rankings on the ladder
Point System:
5 Points will be awarded to the winner of a Singles match
3 Points will be awarded to the winner of a Doubles match
1 Point will be awarded to the loser of a match
0.5 or 1/2 Point will be awarded to every game won
No Points will be awarded to players who do not turn up for matches
Points will be uploaded onto Player Ladders at the end of every week. Player ladders will be available on this webpage before commencement of next week's play.
In the event of a washout during play, 2 points will be awarded to each player for each uncompleted set.
Washouts
No Play will commence if it is raining or the court is full of puddles before commencement of play. The competition supervisor will attempt to let the players know by 6pm via a text message. Please ensure we have your correct contact details.
